Herbalism support has the potential to enhance various aspects of your well-being, including sleep quality, digestion, and immunity—all of which are crucial for overall health and vitality. Most people I work with report these improvements. The reason why my work helps people with these fundamental benefits is that I collaborate in building a sustainable self-care framework that compassionately addresses the bigger picture of why this foundation wasn’t there in the first place.
My scope of practice includes 4 areas.
Don’t worry if you find that you have needs in multiple areas—that’s quite common, and I can help you prioritize. You can skim the following list to get a general sense of whether my services might meet your needs, as many people find they require assistance in multiple areas.

Plant remedies can also help cushion the physical-emotional impacts of trauma. Depending on your needs, we may focus on calming your nervous system, improving sleep, or managing anxiety and intrusive thoughts.

Brief Bio & Training for My Clinical Herbalism Practice (click to read)
I started offering counseling work in 2004 and have been working as a therapist since 2009, and while I’m not acting as a therapist in my herbalism work, it informs my practice. I started studying botanical remedies in 2012 and began offering herbalism consultations in 2018. My training combines rigorous self-study, structured learning through herbalism school, and ongoing mentorship with herbalists who have many years of practice, as well as some trainings that are adjacent to herbalism that I have been able to undertake as a therapist.
I first learned about aromatherapy because I wanted to support people who were working with trauma, and I was drawn to how quickly plant aromas can affect the limbic system. I was exploring various trainings that were not cognitive-based, but embodied, non-verbal ways of working. This led me to take an intensive course in anatomy and physiology, observe an herbalist in practice, and begin learning how to make botanical remedies with raw plant materials. I then started attending herbalism conferences and enrolled in Arbor Vitae for a year before taking on mentorship for several years, and continued self-study. I still participate in mentorship and keep my learning fresh with herbalism courses related to the nervous system, stress, trauma, and, most recently, depression. Additionally, I am trained in somatics.
If you feel there’s untapped potential in your well-being journey, you’re likely correct. It’s not due to a lack of wisdom or will!
In my experience, people struggle with their Personal Care practices because they:
- Need fresh inspiration to make their practices cohesive and feasible
- Tried to bite off more than they can chew at once– it’s small changes that are ones that can last. Having another person to guide you in that can reduce the overwhelm.
- Haven’t established a trusting relationship with someone who understands their life’s larger context and what’s realistic. I maintain a small practice, allowing me to be fully present and attuned to each person’s unique and evolving needs.
- Lack consistency in following up with their needs and building off of their progress. In the midst of life’s complexities and without rooted ways and build upon your growth, it’s difficult to stay attuned to your Personal Care needs. Regular appointments help.
- Don’t have enough encouragement, support, and witnessing of their efforts. Having a solid relationship with an herbalism practitioner can offer you affirmation when you’re making strides, validation for struggles, and a throughline of support.
My work is different than wellness consultations that may lack a personal connection and don’t equip someone with a high level of sensitivity and care about what has made their Personal Care practices challenging.
What’s Included in Herbalism Consultations?
A Four-Phase Process of Botanical Care
Herbalism consultations begin with you completing an intake form, and the process includes 4 phases that typically happen within four to six weeks.
- Intake: I’ll review your intake form, and we’ll then meet for a 75-minute consult to discuss this form and to gather information that will help me to consider what types of remedies may be suitable for you.
- Formulation & Herbal Protocol Development: I’ll formulate one to three botanical remedies (develop an herb combination into a customized blend for you) and write a document with herbalism protocols that guide you on how to safely and effectively use these formulas and any relevant Personal Care practices.
- Herbalism Presentation/Edu: We’ll meet for 45 minutes so I can present and finalize this document and protocols with your input.
- Follow-up: We’ll have a 45-minute follow-up after you’ve had a couple of weeks to work with the protocols to discuss how they are going and to potentially adjust formulas, doses, and/or self-care practices after you’ve experimented with them.
The four-phase process is essential so we can:
- Work collaboratively to target what you’re looking to improve, support, and/or comfort with herbal remedies
- Ensure you know how to work safely and effectively with herbal remedies
- Set realistic expectations for the remedies, and
- Nurture your learning to track things so we can productively adjust botanical formulations as needed.
The written protocol will be a crucial reference sheet for how to work with your remedies and care practices.
Cost
The cost of the initial herbalism consultation is $750 and includes all four phases described above: 3 appointments, the creation of your customized formulas, a document with your personalized protocols, and information about how to connect with ethical and high-quality botanical remedy-maker/s who will dispense the formulas. (Cost for herbal remedies is separate and will likely range from $20 to $90)
After this, you can schedule 45-minute follow-ups for $200.

I recognize this cost means my herbalism services are not accessible to everyone.
Ugh…capitalism! There’s no perfect way to address it, and trust me, I’ve tried various models. Alas there’s a lot behind the scenes to keep this work running that makes accessibility difficult for some people seeking services and on my end as a practitioner. I extend empathy if you’re the cost makes this inaccessible for you.
Please see if any of my freely available material, such as my blogs or my lower-cost Personal Care Blueprint course gets you started with what you need. I developed these offerings to provide affordable and free resources. It’s a considerable amount of insight, distilled from my years of experience providing herbalism consultations and self-care guidance as a therapist, as well as what I learned in my personal journeys. I truly hope there’s wisdom and encouragement to support your growth there!
If you have no budget and want to work with an herbal practitioner, you may want to reach out to an herbalism school. They often have free consultations with students who are supervised.
If you have some budget and think your needs are very aligned with my offerings, please email me with a sense of what your budget is, and I’ll let you know when I anticipate having a sliding scale spot available.

FAQ’s & Good-to-Knows!
Who might be a good fit or not a good fit for these consultations?
You may be a good fit if you are:
- Interested in working with herbal remedies
- At a juncture in life that allows some bandwidth for your Personal Care Practices, and
- Seeking guidance to think through ways to best meet your self-care needs
This may not be a good fit for you if you’re:
- Looking for a quick fix, or not interested in follow-up appointments– the follow-ups are crucial to seeing how the remedies and protocols are working for you. I totally get wanting something that causes distress to be alleviated. No shame there. And also, it’s important to understand that if things have been out of balance for some time, they’ll need time to shift into balance. It’s the gradual changes that are sustained, while dramatic ones can destabilize us.
- Expecting a herbal remedies to resolve all things without putting self-care into place. Plants are amazing, and when we’re learning what they can offer, we often hope they’ll bring us complete ease and health. But they can only do so much on their own, and work best in tandem with our Personal Care practices. Consultations are just as much about these practices as they are about the herbs.
- Skeptical about herbalism and not open to asking questions when you need clarity or support. There’s so much to understand about how botanicals can support us, and my services and skills will be best utilized for people who are starting from a place of curiosity as opposed to being closed to the idea of working with plants.
This looks like it could be a great service, but I don’t trust myself to follow through with steps between appointments. What do you tell people who have difficulty with staying on top of things.
Ah, yes– I know this can be a real struggle. I create a clear, concise document that lists one to three focal points to help you stay motivated and focused on what you’re seeking. We’ll work on one to three Personal Care practices that complement your herbal remedies. I ensure these protocols are realistic and, when adding to them, we’ll discuss whether the additional practices are manageable for you.
Additionally, I schedule follow-ups in a way that creates manageable containers of time for you. You’ll focus on one leg of self-care dashes at a time!
You’re also welcome to book a free 20-minute discovery call to ask more specific questions about this. I want to make sure it’s the right fit for you and help you understand if it’s not so you can seek what you most need!
Where do your consultations take place, and who do you offer services to?
I work with adults who are 18 or older, who tend to be sensitive, compassionate people, and who reside in the US. I conduct my appointments remotely, through video calls.
I’m not sure if I have time for this. Can you tell me when you schedule appointments and how much time this takes?
I usually schedule appointments M-F, between 8:am and 5:pm EST. These are online appointments so all you need is privacy, and a computer with decent wifi and a camera. If you need an appointment outside of the above schedule, please book a free 20-minute discovery call and if it seems right to work together, we can look at our calendars!
The first appointment is the longest at 75 minutes and you’ll need 30 minutes to complete your intake form. After that appointments are 45-minutes.
The things to do between these appointments are designed to fit in with what you’re already doing, so they may take a few extra minutes a couple of times a day. Aside from that, you’ll need to order your remedies, and sometimes I suggest things like foot soaks, or a personal massage, which can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes, but is not an everyday occurrence.
I’m a little shy or introverted and feel anxious about what it may feel like to meet with you or receive this type of service. Is there any way to make this easier for me?
I hear you. Reaching out can be vulnerable. People tend to tell me that they were nervous and then surprised about how easy it is to talk with me about their Personal Care needs. I created these services because I have needed similar support in the past and learned a ton from various sources. My intention with you, if you reach out, will be to provide a soft landing and understand any particular sensitivities or needs you may have. If what’s on this page is resonating with you, it’s likely we’d be a good match to work together, and once you get past the initial, novel stage where your system isn’t used to talking with me, we can build comfort together in our relationship. I believe trust is earned, and not just once, but through each appointment together.
There’s no pressure if we do a discovery call together, and it seems like this isn’t quite the right fit. When that happens, I’m happy to person is one step closer to what they need by process of elimination.
Is the cost of herbal remedies included in the consultation, and do I receive the herbs from you?
No, the cost of most of your botanical remedies is separate and may range from $20 to $90, depending on what you want to work with and how much of a supply you get. I will connect you with a trusted remedy dispenser and/or provide you with sources where you can purchase herbs, aromatherapy supplies, body-care products, and so forth.
Occasionally, I do provide herbal remedies if it’s something I’ve made myself and not available elsewhere or if we’re working with something from my specially curated plant essences supply, which I can blend with what I have on hand.
I’m taking medication. Can I still work with herbs and receive consultations with you?
Taking medication does not preclude you from working with herbs, but there can be some contraindications that I’ll discuss with you. Let’s chat about your situation on my free 20-minute discovery call to see if my services are right for you. If I think what you need is beyond my scope of practice, I’ll let you know and point you in the right direction so you are more informed on what kinds of herbalism, or other consultations may be a better fit. I’m pregnant. Can I still work with herbs and receive consultations with you?
Congratulations! I do work with people who are pregnant to support them in Personal Care practices, such as supporting relaxation.
But if you’re specifically looking for fertility support, that is not my specialty, and you may want to find an herbalist who specializes in that.
Otherwise, let’s chat about your interest in consultations on my free 20-minute discovery call to see if my services are right for you. Click here to book that call.
What types of remedies do you work with in your practice?
Based on your specific needs and preferences, we can incorporate botanical formulas through various methods, such as internal usage, topical application, or aromatherapy. In some cases, we may explore a symbolic approach, where you benefit from the influence of plants without necessarily consuming them, but by incorporating them into your environment.
If you’re someone who needs to make sure you don’t have alcohol, we can work with herbal preparations that are alcohol-free.
This link will show designated call times, but if they don’t work for you, email me
at quai [@] discoverspace.me with your availability. I’m happy to find a time that suits us both!
